Traveling Exhibitions

Sewell Sillman: Pushing Limit is a groundbreaking exhibition of twentieth-century artist Sewell Sillman (1924-1992). In the late 1940s Sillman became a protégé of the Bauhaus Master Josef Albers at Black Mountain College, a hotbed of avant-garde activity in America. 

The exhibition was on view at the Florence Griswold Museum February 13 to April 18, 2010.

It then traveled to the Asheville Art Museum and was on view August 6, 2010 to January 9, 2011.

A 32 page illustrated exhibition catalogue featuring 12 color plates, 14 additional images, chronology and essays by Amanda C. Burdan and Mary Emma Harris is available.
