Thank you for supporting the Florence Griswold Museum’s mission.
We rely on the generous and continued support of our community members – and that includes you! There are many ways to give, from annual giving to planned giving. Discover more below.
Other Important Ways to Support the Museum
Gifts directed toward the Museum’s Exhibition Fund provide crucial funding that helps the Museum present diverse and educational exhibitions, as well as cover the costs for curatorial work, research, and conservation related to Exhibitions. This Fund is central to the success of our expansive and rich exhibition programming. Your donation of any size helps to bring shows to life!
As a part of your Exhibition Fund support, gifts of $2,500 or more are recognized by “sponsoring” a painting in either our permanent collection exhibition or a rotating exhibition.
For more information, please contact Matt Strekel, Director of Development at 860.434.5542 x104 or via email at Matt.Strekel@FloGris.org.
The Museum gratefully accepts gifts to either establish or enhance special purpose funds regularly. Examples of these include The Andersen Fund for Excellence, Acquisitions Fund, Helen Krieble Fund for Sculpture, Endowed Funds, Outreach and Education, and more! If you are interested in learning more about supporting one of these, please contact Matt Strekel, Director of Development at 860.434.5542 x104 or via email at Matt.Strekel@FloGris.org
Each of these unique funds serve a special purpose in supporting the Museum through either enhancing programming, furthering our ability to acquire works of art, or providing funds for special projects.
Partner with your employer today to increase the value of your gift that makes our world-class exhibitions and superior programming possible.
Increase the power of your gift to the Florence Griswold Museum by participating in our Matching Gift Program. Many employers have matching gift programs by which they will match the tax-deductible portion of your donation.
To see if your employer has a matching gift program, simply visit your company’s website or speak to your Human Resources department.
Your Membership card will arrive digitally a few days after your Membership is processed, unless you have requested a physical card which should arrive approximately one week from the day your Membership is processed. If you would like to visit the Museum, but have not received your card yet, simply present your photo ID at the Front Desk and let them know that you recently became a Member.
Gifts may be made in memory of a loved one or in honor of a special friend.
A gift to the Museum is a great way to recognize birthdays or anniversaries too. All gifts are recognized in the Annual Report.

We have volunteer needs that suit a variety of interests. Docents greet our visitors in the historic Griswold boardinghouse. Educators lead school-aged children on field trips. Members of the Garden Gang maintain the Museum’s historic gardens. We also need volunteers who like to research, do clerical work, and help host events. Contact Carla I. Corcoran, Associate Business Director, for more information and to apply at Carla@FloGris.org.
Thank you for thinking of us! We have a Collections Committee who vets potential gifts. To learn more, contact Curator Amy Kurtz Lansing at Amy@FloGris.org.
The Florence Griswold Museum offers a full range of planned giving vehicles to choose from that support all manner of estate plans — bequest, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder annuities, and gifts of works of art for the collection. Because all planned gifts are designated for the endowment (except for the collection gifts), membership in the Lieutenant River Society has a lasting impact on the Museum’s future vitality. To learn more about estate planning options, contact Matt Strekel, Senior Director, Institutional Advancement at Matt.Strekel@FloGris.org.
