Admission includes access to exhibitions in the Krieble Gallery, the historic Florence Griswold House, and the rest of the Museum’s grounds and facilities.

The Museum offers Free Admission for:
- Library Passes — good for two adult & two children admissions. Click here to see if your local library is a member of our program! (Please note during the Wee Faerie Village event there is a $5 surcharge for Adult admissions using Library Passes.)
- Employees & Docents of other museums with ID or business card
- SNAP/EBT cardholders — good for four people per visit. There is no limit to how many times a person can visit, and free admission is good for up to four people per visit with the presentation of a SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card. A SNAP/EBT card from any US state is valid at the Museum.
- Active Duty Military and Veterans and their families as part of the Blue Star Museums Program
- North American Reciprocal Museum (NARM) Membership holders
The Museum offers $1 off admission for:

By Car: Traveling on I-95 South from Mystic or Rhode Island:
Take EXIT 70; at bottom of exit ramp, turn RIGHT onto Lyme Street. The Museum is the second building on the LEFT
By Car: Traveling on I-95 North from New Haven:
Come over the bridge at the mouth of the Connecticut River. Stay in the RIGHT lane. Take EXIT 70; at the bottom of the exit ramp, turn LEFT at light onto Route 156. Turn RIGHT at second traffic light onto Halls Road. Take Halls Road to the end. At the end, take a LEFT at the light onto Lyme Street. The Museum is the second building on the LEFT. There are brown state highway signs marking the way.
By Car: Coming from Hartford:
Take I-91 South to Route 9 South. Follow Route 9 to the end and get on I-95 going North and follow the directions above. Ample free parking is available.
By Train: From New York
Take Metro-North and connect to Shore Line East in New Haven to Old Saybrook. There is limited bus service from Old Saybrook to Old Lyme using 9 Town Transit. The bus runs Monday through Friday.
By Boat:
If you are cruising the waters of Long Island sound and want to pay a visit to the bucolic town of Old Lyme and it’s renowned museums and art galleries, a short trip up the mouth of the Connecticut river on your portside-lattitude 41.2838-longitude 72.35119-you will see the “Saybrook Point Marina Inn and Spa” A luxurious full service marina with dockspace for all sized vessels-concierge services available including livery service-just a short 5 minute ride over the river to the museum. Further up river before the two bridges on your starboard side is “The Old Lyme Dock Co” a small full service marina that will gladly arrange for transportation to the museum – if you enjoy a nice walk, the museum can be reached on foot from this location. Beyond the two bridges also on your starboard side is the “Old Lyme Marina” a full service marina within walking distance of the town center and the museum. We have established a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment ensuring that all people enjoy, learn from, and are inspired by their visit to the Museum. The campus includes the historic Florence Griswold House which is partially accessible by ramped entrance. The second floor (gallery space) of the historic House is not accessible by wheelchair. There are 17 stairs from the first floor to the second.
The Hartman Education Center and Krieble Gallery are fully accessible. The interior of the historic Chadwick Studio is not accessible by wheelchair.
Accessible pathways make much of the Museum’s 12 acres navigable by wheelchair.
The Florence Griswold Museum is a public place and as such, photos of our visitors are permitted as they would be in any public space, such as a park, trail, or roadway. By being on the Museum’s property, you consent to being filmed, videotaped, and/or photographed by an employee or contract photographer.
If you do not wish to be photographed, please inform our Admissions Desk staff at the beginning of your visit.

Yes. The Krieble Gallery, Café Flo, Robert F. Schumann Artists’ Trail, FloGris Shop, historic gardens, and first floor of the Florence Griswold House are all fully accessible.
The second floor of the historic Griswold House is only accessible via stairs at this time. A virtual tour of these spaces is available and we are happy to welcome and encourage visitors who wish to learn more from a Museum Docent volunteer onsite.

We are a member of NARM (North American Reciprocal Museum Association) for those with a Supporting or higher level Florence Griswold Museum Membership. This provides free access to over 1,400 arts and cultural institutions throughout North America – including museums, botanical gardens, zoos, and more. For a full listing of all participating institutions, visit www.narmassociation.org. The Museum grants free admission to members from other NARM institutions, with presentation of a membership card with a NARM sticker.
Additionally, we offer free admission to New England Museum Association (NEMA) and American Alliance of Museums (AAM) members, and to docents and employees of other museums, with identification.
Yes! There is no limit to how many times a cardholder visits. Free admission covers up to four people per visit with the presentation of a SNAP Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, issued by any state in the USA.
Through our Library Partner program, we partner with many libraries to offer general admission passes to the Museum. Library passes are good for free admissions for two adults and two children. Click here to see if your local library is a member of our program.
Passes must be checked out prior to any visit and presented at our Admissions Desk. Please note: during the Wee Faerie Village special event there is a $5 surcharge for admissions using Library Passes.
Passes are not the same as a library card. Libraries purchase memberships to participating organizations so they can offer passes for free or a reduced admission to a variety of attractions.

The Griswold House is a self-guided experience. Knowledgeable docents are available to answer any questions.
General Museum admission covers the entire property. One ticket is all that is needed to visit all of our buildings and grounds.
The FloGris Shop and Café Flo (seasonal) are open to the public and do not require paid Museum admission to visit.

Accessible restrooms, water fountains, and changing tables are located in the main Krieble Gallery building. There are restrooms in the Education Center and the Florence Griswold House. During Wee Faerie Village and other outdoor events portable facilities are often available.

The Florence Griswold Museum is a perfect place to gather with like-minded friends and colleagues. Artist clubs, reading groups, and garden aficionados, have made the Museum their go-to destination. Our field trips combine art, history, and nature, and can be geared for students of all ages and grade levels. The Florence Griswold Museum is a top destination for school groups. From preschool-aged children to high school students, the campus is a rewarding experience for all hands-on, minds-on educational experiences.
Classes are divided into small touring groups that rotate between three activities. Field trips are approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes in length.
