with Felandus Thames, Artist and Amy Kurtz Lansing, Curator, Florence Griswold Museum
Included with Museum Admission, no advance reservations required
Join artist Thames and Curator Kurtz Lansing for a conversation in the gallery to discuss his recently commissioned work for the Florence Griswold Museum: Believed to be Jenny Freeman in her Sunday’s best (2024–25).
The beaded sculpture presents an imagined portrait of one of the African American women who lived enslaved in the Noyes household, now the Museum grounds. Thames envisions her likeness and dignifies her memory as part of an artistic practice that honors the Black experience.
