Florence Griswold Museum
George Inness, Durham, Connecticut. The subject of this oil painting by George Inness is a verdant green scene with a large tree and grassy foreground landscape. A small patch of blue sky is visible in the upper right corner. Inness was very influential to the artists of the Lyme Art Colony, particularly in the style of Tonalist painting favored by many in the early 1900s. This painting is now in the collection of the Florence GRiswold Museum.

Guy Pène duBois (1884–1958), "Mary Tarleton Knollenberg". The subject of this oil painting is Mary Tarleton Knollenberg, an American sculptor. She sits on a bed in an interior scene, looking to the side out of frame, wearing a stylish yellow top and blue scarf. Artist Guy Pène du Bois painted this expressive, modern portrait of Knollenberg with whom he once had a romantic relationship.
