We invite you to be inspired by our landscape, just as artists of the Lyme Art Colony were in the 20th century. Please follow the painting guidelines below.

Painting Guidelines

Here are a few guidelines while you paint on the grounds:

If you have a class or group of artists who wish to paint on the grounds, contact David D.J. Rau, Curator of Visitor Engagement, at 860.434-5542 x115 or via email at David@FloGris.org. Without a reservation we cannot guarantee your group’s space.

Painters are asked to check in with the Admissions Desk upon arrival.

The Museum grounds are open to the public:
April through December: Tuesday through Sunday 10am to 5pm
January through March: Tuesday through Sunday 10am to 4pm

Painters must park in the farthest paved parking lot. Thank you for your cooperation.

Public restrooms are available in the Krieble Gallery during Museum hours.

Do not paint on the stone patio or veranda surrounding Museum buildings.

Do not bring wet paintings into any Museum buildings.

General admission is required for entry to the Krieble Gallery and historic Florence Griswold House. Purchase at the Admissions Desk.

$17 Seniors (62+)
$16 Students (13+)
$7.50 Children (ages 5-12)
Free to children 4 & under and Museum Members

Please note there is a $5 surcharge for admissions during fall’s Wee Faerie Village special event.
